Difference between the Rasi chart and Navamsa chart
The Navamsa chart has its own scientific logic. To understand this chart, we need to understand the way to read this chart was created. The reason for the creation of this chart was to have a very precise knowledge of the planets at the time of marriage or at the time of birth. The difference between the Rasi chart and the Navamsa chart is that in the rasi chart the planetary motion does not change for 2 hours but in the Navamsa chart the planetary motion changes in 13-14 minutes according to sources hence giving the details in more detail. The principle for the preparation of this chart is based on its name Navamsa- “Nava” meaning nine and “amsa” meaning division. Hence it is also called the D-9 chart. The chart has been created to give 108 boxes at an angle of 3 degrees and 20 minutes of the zodiac arc. This was done to position the planets more accurately and precisely as mentioned earlier whereas the Rasi chart was depicted with the 12 zodiac signs placed at an angle of 30 degrees.
There is another phenomenon associated with this chart which is called the different types of movements of the planets. There are currently four types- Lagna (or the ascent), Sthira (the fixed planets), Chara (the planets in motion) and the Dwisavbhava (planets which are same for all). According to the navamsa of an individual, the characteristics can be classified on the basis of the representative characteristics of the lords of those navamsas. The individuals having their navamsa belonging to the- 1st, 4th, and 7th have the characteristics of "Deva" or divine. People belonging to the 2nd, 5th and 8th have the features of the "Nara" or the kind and the last one belonging to 3rd, 6th and 9th have the features of the "Rakshasa" or the demon. As mentioned earlier, these factors come into play for predicting marriage, the spouse and also to know about the different characteristics which you as an individual possess. Each zodiac sign has two navamsas namely- Vargottama and Pushkar.
Vargottama navamsa
The Vargottama Navamsa is basically a phenomenon in which the planet’s position is the same in the Rasi as well as the Navamsa chart. Due to this, it is known to have an ascent on the growth of an individual and this comes with new opportunities and fortunes.
Pushkar navamsa
The Pushkar Navamsa is located in on such position of the 3 degree 20 minute arc of the zodiac sign. The meaning of the word pushkar means to nurture and to nourish. It is a beneficial navamsa and the strength of the navamsa chart increases with the increase in the number of planets in the position of the arc.
The Navamsa chart is widely studied by famous astrologers like K N Rao and B V Raman in their books and they have stated that to look into those matters in greater detail the importance of the Navamsa chart is eminent.
