How to Perform Lakshmi Poojan?

Lakshmi is derived from the Sanskrit word lakshya, which means "goal." Ma Lakshmi is the Goddess of Wealth, Prosperity, and Fortune, as well as spiritual and material advancement. She is said to protect her believers from all types of misfortunes, including financial ones. She is Lord Vishnu's holy spouse and is also known as Shri. As per the Vishnu Purana, Maa Lakshmi was daughter of Khyaati and Bhrigu and resided in Swarga. Due to Durvasa's curse, she left Swarga and settled in Ksheera Sagara.

Mahalakshmi is also the sister of Sukracharya, the great guru, and Chandra, the great planet. Chandra and Lakshmi were born out of the sea when the Devas and Daanavaas churned the ksheera sagara (milk sea). Chandra is Lakshmi's brother.

Lakshmi is the manifestation of Lord Vishnu's superior spiritual feminine force, which takes the form of Adi Parashakti or Param Prakriti and sanctifies, empowers, and elevates the individual's spirituality.

Mata Lakshmi is the goddess of good fortune and beauty. Her golden skin, as well as her dark, wavy, and long hair, are symbols of prosperity and happiness.

Her crimson or gold attire, gold jewellery, and a golden ruby-studded crown on her head represent fulfilment and never-ending activity. Her right hand holds abhay and gyan mudras, which represent strength and intelligence, while her left hand holds a pot of gold and a paddy sheaf, which represents her as a wealth or fortune bestower.

Lakshmi is known by several names. She is recognised to be intimately related with the Lotus, and she has a number of epithets that refer to the flower, including:

·       Padma: lotus-dweller.

·       Kamala: lotus-dweller.

·       Padmapriya: the one who adores lotuses

The most important thing to consider before beginning Lakshmi pooja is cleanliness and neatness. It is claimed that Lakshmi lives in clean and neat environments. As a result, the first step in performing the pooja is to tidy up your home and pooja area. It is also critical that you are nice and clean, as well as wearing new, fresh clothing.

Spread a red-colored cloth over the consecrated puja site. Deities or laminations of the Lakshmi Narayana, Ganesha, and Saraswati should be placed on the cloth. To depict nine planets or Navagraha devatas, spread 9 mounds of rice on one side of the fabric and arrange suparis on top of the rice mounds.

Place a vessel filled with water or rice in front of the Deities and garnish with betel leaves for Kalasha Stapana. On top of the filled pot, place a coconut. Wrap a crimson fabric around the pot and tie it around it. On the pot, write; Swastik,' which stands for wealth and cleanliness. This pot is known as the Kalash or Purna Kumbh, and it represents the Supreme Deity or Universal Power.

Flowers, fruits, and turmeric-vermillion powder should be used to decorate the Deities. Arrange the Diwali thali in front of the Deities. A few golden, silver, or rupee coins should be included in this thali. These coins are supposed to represent Goddess Lakshmi.

Begin the puja by purifying oneself by taking water in your left hand and sprinkling it on your head. Call out your and your family's names to perform sankalpa. Request that this pooja be performed in honour of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayana. Offer incense and light ghee lamps.
