Manglik Dosha is one of the most feared concepts in Vedic astrology. Most people believing in Vedic astrology fear it and they are concerned it is affected in their horoscope or not. It is associated with fear of most ghastly results including one’s marriage. There are many beliefs and some of the misconceptions associated with Manglik Dosha.

What is Manglik Dosha?

In Vedic astrology, it is believed that placement of Mars in one of the houses numbered 1, 2,4,7,8 or 12 in a horoscope, where the rising sign or ascendant is taken in the first house; Manglik Dosha is formed in the horoscope. For example, if a native is born with Aries in his/her ascendant and Mars is placed in the eighth house of his horoscope in the sign of Scorpio, it is said to have Manglik Dosha formed in the horoscope.

 Manglik Dosha in a horoscope can cause problems like delay the marriage of the affected native and it is said to create disturbances after his marriage. It can be of types depending on Mars placement in the house and depends on some other factors. Whereas there is clear that Manglik Dosha of very good strength supported by other malefic planets in a horoscope can create all these negative effects, these results are not frequent. Like all other yogas in Vedic astrology, Manglik Dosha is a rare concept and it doesn’t form frequently in a horoscope, it is believed to be.

Types of Mangal Dosha

 The different types of Mangal Dosha depend on the position of Mars on different houses as well as the charts. There are mainly two types of mangal dosha:

High Mangal Dosha:

If the position of Mars is in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from three charts I.e. Moon chart, Venus Chart as well as Natal Chart, then it will be high mangal dosha. The native under high mangal dosh is said to go through a lot of hurdles in their life.

Low Mangal Dosha:

 If the position of Mars is in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th from one of these charts I.e. from either Moon chart, Venus chart or Natal chart, it will be known as low mangal dosha. Natives under the influence of high mangal dosha will also go through problems but its implications will not be as severe as high mangal dosha.

 Manglik Dosha And Its Effects On Marriage

Manglik Dosha is only one defect in Vedic astrology, which can cause the marriages of the natives under its impact in a negative way, and there are many others like Kaal Sarp Yog, Pitra Dosha, Nadi Dosha, and Bhakut Dosha, which said to result in equally serious problems in the marriages suffering from them.

There are many other conditions and the real scope and quantum of damage caused by Manglik Dosha when it is formed in a horoscope. Mangal means the Mars planet in English, Manglik means something related to or that is created by Mars; and Dosha means defect. As a result of this Manglik Dosha means a defect formed by Mars. As a defect is a negative word, the logical condition of defect or Dosha to form in a horoscope should be the planet causing such a defect. It is nearly unimaginable that a positive planet causes defects! Hence if Mars placed in these six houses is working positively in a horoscope, the possibility of the formation of Manglik Dosha is ruled out and Mars may form much good yoga in horoscope, including Manglik Yog.

The Influence of Mars on Houses

 Planets in navagraha possess three characteristics, many other ones and those characteristics are their physical strength, their working nature, and their level of activity in the horoscope. For example, the presence of Mars in the first house in the sign of Aries tells us that Mars is physically strong in that horoscope because Mars is placed in its sign in the first house; and both these factors give additional strength. Hence Mars is strong, the essential characteristic is established in the horoscope.

Planets can have their level of activity ranging from 0 to 100 percent, though the figures closer to 0 or 100 are very hard to find in actual practice. If the level of activity this strong and negative Mars placed in the first house of this horoscope is more than 30%, Manglik Dosha is formed in the horoscope. As the percentage

level of Mars keeps increasing, the strength of Manglik Dosha increases that results in more and more damage to the belonging, in the areas it is affected.

However, if Mars has a percentage level of activity less than 30, Manglik Dosha is not formed in the horoscope under consideration of Mars is not active enough in this horoscope to cause such problems, it may be strong and negative. By concluding this formation of Manglik Dosha in a horoscope, three conditions should be met in a horoscope, for this defect to form in such a horoscope. According to conditions, Mars should be placed in one of the houses numbered 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, or 12 in a horoscope; to cause negative effects it should actively have a percentage of activity more than 30. If all these conditions are filled by a person’s horoscope, only then Manglik Dosha is formed in such a horoscope.

To conclude, it can be stated that only 15 to 20% of the natives who are said to have Manglik Dosha in their horoscope, actually have the defect in their horoscopes. By that means rest 80 to 85% of natives don’t have it and they are getting scared of the caused defects, without reason. Hence the Mars placement in houses numbered 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, or 12 of your horoscopes than Mars is not to form Manglik Dosha in the horoscope. Even if Manglik Dosha is formed in a horoscope, remedies that can reduce the damage are mentioned by Vedic astrology. Hence there is no giant reason to worry about the placement of Mars in one of these six houses in your horoscope and get your horoscope checked properly, as it may not have Manglik Dosha at all.
