Anant Chaturdashi 2022

The Hindu faith places a lot of emphasis on the Anant Chaturdashi fast. Anant Chaudas is another name for this celebration. Lord Vishnu, the Lord of many incarnations, is honoured on this day.

The event, which falls on the 14th day of the Shukla paksha of the Bhadrapad month in the Hindu calendar, honours the spirit of fraternity and unity. After paying devotion to Lord Vishnu on Anant Chaturdashi, a thread is tied around his arm. This thread, which can be either silk or cotton, must have 14 knots in it. On the same days as Anant Chaudas, Ganesh Visarjan is observed. This event is celebrated across the country with tremendous fervour and excitement.

Anant Chaturdashi as per the Scriptures

1.   On 14th day of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month in Hindu calendar, a fast is observed on this occasion. The 14th day must begin after 2 muhurats from the time of sunrise to satisfy this criterion.

2.   The festival of Anant Chaturdashi is to be celebrated a day before the Chaturdashi date if it falls after the sunrises two muhurats and ceases before it. To keep the ceremonies auspicious, the entire festival procession, including worshipping, paying respect, and fasting, must take place in the early part of the day. If you can't find time to perform it during that phase, it'll be preferable if you do it within the first time frame of the day's middle phase. The first muhurat of the day's middle phase is between the 7th and 9th muhurat.

Anant Chaturdashi Puja Vidhi and Vrat

The necessity of maintaining a fast is emphasised in the Agni Puran. The Lord Vishnu's infinite forms are commemorated on this day. This worship is performed at midday, and the Pujan Vidhi is as follows:

1.   Take a bow and lay a kalash on the Pujan altar on this day after a good wash.

2.   You can install a kalash with an Ashtadal lotus made of kush on a vase, or you can use an image of Lord Vishnu if you want.

3.   After that, dip a thread in vermilion, saffron, and turmeric to make a thread. It has to be 14 knots. Keep this thread in front of Lord Vishnu's statue.

4.   Now, using the Shadoshopchar technique, worship the thread and the Lord's idol, and repeat the mantra listed below. Following that, you must wrap the sacred thread around your arm.

   अनंतसंसारमहासुमद्रेमग्रंसमभ्युद्धरवासुदेव।

   अनंतरूपेविनियोजयस्वह्रानंतसूत्रायनमोनमस्ते।।

5.   It is customary for males to wear it around their left arm and for women to wear it around their right arm. Following that, serve food to the Brahmans and accept prasad with your entire family.

The Significance of Anant Chaturdashi

According to legend, the festival of Anant Chaturdashi has its origins in the Mahabharata epic. Lord Vishnu's day is commemorated on this day. Tal, Atal, Vital, Sutal, Talatal, Rasatal, Paatal, Bhi, Bhuva, Jan, Tap, Satya, mah are the 14 loks created by the Lord. He came down to this mortal planet in the shape of 14 distinct avatars in order to pursue and protect them, earning him the title of being limitless. He knew he had saved his people and his inventions, and these avatars had played a significant role in that. Hence, Anant Chaturdashi is a significant day since it allows you to please the Lord of Creation personally and receive his best benefits. The fast that is being followed on this day is also very important. All of this is supposed to make him happy and provide you an endless life of happiness and contentment. It is also claimed that if someone fasts on this day and recites Vishnu Sahasranama stotra, all of their requests are granted and they receive anything they desire from the Lord. The goal of this fast is to achieve money, plenty, and success in one's life. The desire for abundant wealth, pleasure, and children, among other things, leads a man to seek the Lord's blessings on his mortal life. This fast is practised in several Indian states. Members of the family listen to Lord Vishnu's traditional stories on this day.

Legendary tales surrounding A Anant Chaturdashi

According to the Mahabharata, the Kauravas vanquished the Pandavas in gaming by turning against them and misleading them behind their backs. Following this, the Pandavas were forced to give up their kingdom, their wealth, and all of their comforts, as well as go into exile in the woods. They had to go through a lot of pain and struggles to get through this time. Lord Krishna went to the jungle to welcome the Pandavas one lovely day. Yudhishthira, the eldest of the Pandavas, greeted him with reverence and begged him for a means to return to the track and reclaim their lost kingdom and wealth in a respectful manner.Hearing this, the Lord provided him with an antidote that would solve all of his life's troubles and grant him his heart's desire. This cure was the Anant Chaturdashi fast, which honours Lord Vishnu as the primary source of comfort. He encouraged him to keep the fast and worship Lord Vishnu with his wife and brothers.

Yudhishthira demanded that Krishna clarify who Anant is after hearing this. Lord Krishna explained to him in great detail that Lord Anant is another manifestation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu spends an endless amount of time in the Chaturmas on the sheshnaag. The three loks were completed in just two pages by Anant lord in the incarnation of Vaaman. No one knows where he came from or where he'll go, which is one of the main reasons he's named and recognised as endless. By worshipping him, all of your problems and difficulties will vanish, and you will be able to enjoy the life you have always desired.

Yudhishthira promised to keep this fast with his family when the storey finished, and after it was completed, he was able to reclaim his lost kingdom and wealth.
